NFL players are easily some of the toughest athletes in professional sports. The abuse their bodies take on a daily basis, subjecting themselves to bone crushing hits and constant physical abuse certainly puts these athletes in tough guy status. Professional football players want to win, and are willing to do anything to get to the promise land, even if the means risking their bodies to serious injury. Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew in a recent interview said that he would play through a concussion and even go so far as to hide his injury from NFL trainers. According to the Huffington Post, a recent Associated Press survey showed that 23 out of 44 players surveyed would conceal a head related injury if they were at risk of being pulled out of the game.

Clearly, many NFL players are willing to hide their injuries so they can continue to play knowing full well the consequences of such actions. Right now the NFL is facing lawsuits from over 120 retired players who claim that the NFL deliberately hid information about the dangers of concussions and other head related injuries. These claims are also based on the NFL not pushing helmet manufacturers hard enough to produce equipment that can further reduce the risk of concussions. It’s uncertain if any of these lawsuits will make it to court.

What fans don’t see behind the glitz and glamor of the NFL is the culture and principles that many of these players follow. They will do whatever it takes to win, period. Even if that means they can be permanently disabled as a result. The players that are suing the NFL played through pain and injury so they can, at least for a moment, achieve football immortality. Now these players who lived by the “code” are now facing the mortal challenges of back pain, headaches, dementia, depression, and other side effects of the abuse that comes with playing in the NFL. The NFL will have its hands full as more players come out of the wood work who complain of concussion related symptoms. As this happens, current players may begin to think twice before they decide to hide their injuries.

Lower back pain is a common ailment that many athletes and casual fitness enthusiasts suffer from due to a variety of reasons. Strenuous exercises like squats or dead lifts, core exercises which if done incorrectly can lead to lower back injuries. Back injuries can also occur on the field during play.Players in such sports as football, baseball, basketball, etc are susceptible to lower back injuries because of the constant abuse their bodies go through when engaged in their respective sports.

There are a number of remedies prescribed by physicians and physical therapists to treat lower back pain. Medication is one common treatment, others include physical therapy, lotions, and stretching as some of the ways to deal with lower back injuries.

Padding in sports and fitness equipment is an overlooked method of treating lower back injuries. Materials such as the MitiGator Cushioning system, developed by Sea Systems Group, can be installed in braces and pads for the lower back protecting the athlete from a violent collision during play. The MitiGator can be installed in fitness equipment such as benches and smith machines that can provide additional support to the lower back when a person is either laying flat or sitting on the bench during an exercise.

Lower back pain can prevent athletes and weekend warriors from enjoying physical activity. Taking the right steps necessary to prevent injury can improve the quality of physical activity one engages in to stay fit and perform on the field.

The NFL is aware that concussions are becoming a growing problem, prompting team personnel and other officials to take swift action if they notice concussion symptoms on any player.

The problem is many concussions symptoms aren’t noticeable, where a player can receive a concussion and not feel the side affects until his injury worsens to the point where it may no longer be treatable. The NFL has passed rules to protect players from violent hits, such as helmet to helmet hits or defenseless players who cannot protect themselves prior to impact.

If the concussion problem worsens, the NFL will be forced to look into new strategies as well as equipment that can reduce the risk of these life threatening injuries.

The Miti-Gait encompasses the same MitiGator air cushioning technology that can absorb up to 66% whole body impact providing ample protection for the horse when transported.

During transport, horses experience a high amount of stress that require them to rest at least 48 hours prior to transport. Injuries a horse can receive while transported can include: joint swelling, muscles fatigue, tense strides, decreased reproduction and other ailments that can lead to poor performance when a race horse hits the track.

The Miti-Gait uses advanced air channels that blunt the pressure horses are subjected to during highway travel. The Miti-Gait can reduce the risk of injury while giving the horse a comfortable and smooth ride when it’s in its trailer. If you would like to learn more about the Miti-Gait, please visit www.mitigait.com.

The anti-impact, anti-vibration properties of each Miti-GAIT mattress are attributed to what’s at its core – an extensively engineered cushioning system which utilizes advanced Air Channel Technology to dissipate energy from impacts and vibrations. This patented cushioning system is known as MitiGator Technology™. Researched and developed by SEA Systems Group Inc. and tested by the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and independent laboratories, Mitigator™ has been validated as a revolutionary technology that absorbs and dissipates energy from vibration, impacts, and even blasts! The shock and vibration dampening features of the MitiGator™ reduces acceleration by over 90% in drop/impact tests, and attenuates up to 75% of whole body vibration. Developed through a collaborative effort of engineers and equine veterinarians to address the problem of equine transport fatigue, the Miti-GAIT Equine Transport Mattress is now available to mitigate the harmful forces of road impacts, rumble, and vibration and allow your horse to be transported and arrive fresh, focused, relaxed, and ready to win.

Knee pain can result from running, bicycling, and other activities that put constant pressure on the knee.

More severe injuries like torn ligaments, scrapes and bruises occur when the knee is impacted on a hard surface such as a basketball or volleyball court. For athletes, knee protection is crucial in enhancing and prolonging an athletic career.

Once the knee goes, than it becomes increasingly difficult to continue any strenuous physical activity. This is why knee pads installed with the MitiGator Cushioning System can save knees from severe injury when an athlete is competing or training.

The MitiGator is lightweight, durable, and comes in a number of applications making it versatile when installed in knee pads and other sports equipment. Preventing injury is the goal of anyone who participates in some sort of physical activity-using the right equipment when working out is one of the best ways to protect yourself from the risk of injury to your knees and other extremities.

The MitiGator™ Technology is an engineered cushioning system designed to protect people and equipment from these assaults and to allow them to continue to perform their jobs or enjoy their leisure time. The MitiGator™ uses patented air control technology working with over 4,000 surfaces per square foot to dissipate energy before it is transmitted to the body and thus help alleviate the problems.

Fitness equipment like benches, free weights, and weight plates are the foundation for almost any gym across the country. Many of us probably have old dumbbells and a Nordic Track gathering dust in our garage serving as a reminder of our failure to renew our New Years resolution of getting in shape.

Weight lifters prefer some equipment over others. Some prefer machines that give you a smooth rate of motion during each rep, while others prefer free-weights because of the free- range of motion and the way it stimulates the muscle, if of course you lift the weight correctly.

The benefits of fitness equipment vary depending on what your goals are. If you are doing high intensity training where your lifting the weight in 5 to 10 second increments tell muscle failure, than using machines would be beneficial since it can reduce the risk of injury.

If your looking to do more compound exercises like squats and dead lifts , free- weights are the way to go. Again, it all depends on your fitness goals. What should be uncompromising with fitness equipment is that it gives you the best quality workout without giving up safety. Equipment like benches, nautilus machines, and other equipment can be equipped with the MitiGator giving the user support when engaging in strenuous physical activity. But even if you have the best equipment available, it is useful only if you understand how to stimulate muscle in order to encourage muscle growth.

Extreme sports fall into a number of subcategories or activities that sum up the sport: skateboarding, BMX, skiing, motocross, and powerboat racing, just to name a few, are some of the more popular extreme sports.

The face of extreme sports is world famous skateboarder Tony Hawk who by the age of 25 already competed in over 103 skateboarding contests racking up 73 wins. Extreme sports come with plenty hazards, hence the name extreme sports. Common injuries include:

fractures-broken bones

strains/sprains

bruising

lacerations-cuts in the skin

The injuries that these athletes sustain while in competition can be severe- Matt Hoffman, a BMX, champion, suffered a ruptured spleen while performing causing him to go into cardiac arrest. Thankfully he was revived. Sports equipment like the MitiGator Cushioning System can be an important tool in reducing the amount of injuries these athletes endure every year. Helmets, knee & elbow pads, gloves, and body armor can be equipped with the MitiGator providing sufficient protection from violent impacts and other elements.

This recent finding is prompting researchers from Purdue and other research facilities to study the effects of football related head injuries by installing sensors on the helmets of players.

The rise in concussion related injuries in the high school, college, and professional levels is becoming a growing concern that is prompting researchers to study what happens to the human brain when exposed to violent impacts.

It will take time to get the final results of the sensor study since it’s still ongoing, but it is obvious that the current equipment and cushioning systems used on helmets today is not sufficient in protecting players from head injuries.

One reason is because the helmet itself can be used as a weapon or tool on the football field forcing the NFL to punish players who lead first with their helmet when making a tackle. Putting adequate cushioning inside and even outside the helmet can reduce the risk of a concussion when a player is out on the field.

There is nothing like hopping on your Harley Davidson and going out for cruise on a cool Sunday morning-the feeling of independence and freedom running through your veins as you let the engine rumble tell your heart’s content.

Perhaps I sound a little bit poetic, but it is one the best ways describe how a motorcyclist feels when he’s out for a ride on the town. Motorcycles are a piece of Americana where we remember movie legends like Marlon Brando being the true biker with his attitude, wit, and thirst to cause trouble in the film The Wild One.

Iconic bikes like Harley Davidson have become part of American folklore with its iconic engine sound and classic design that motorcycle enthusiasts make top priority to have as part of their collection.

The classic style of Harley Davidson and similar bikes will always have a connection with the past-while also taking advantage of today’s technological advances. The MitiGator Cushioning System developed by Sea Systems Group is a material that has already proven itself in military use and a number of consumer applications-making it ideal for say, the seat of a Harley Davidson.

The MitiGator is a material that is designed to absorb and dissipate impacts providing cushioning and comfort for the rider while he/she cruises into the sunset. The MitiGator can also be applied to helmets and other equipment used when operating a motorcycle. Taking care of your motorcycle is important, but taking care of yourself when riding should take top priority so as to maximize safety and comfort when out cruising on your Harely.

Most race car fans look at stock car racing as simply a sport. We congregate at the race track to cheer for our favorite driver, hoping he pulls off a win. But there is more to the sport than just speeding the down track with your hair on fire, to use a figure of speech.

Race car driving takes a special breed of man. An individual who is willing to risk everything to be ahead of the pack. A man who will push the pedal to the metal, testing the limits of not only only his vehicle, but of his courage. Hunter Richards, still just a boy, has already achieved more in one season than what some drivers achieve in a lifetime of racing.

Hunter Richards, who is sponsored by Sea Systems Group, has been racking up first and second place finishes in most of his races this season in the Bandolero division. Hunter is second in overall points, and has the opportunity to move to first if he continues his winning ways. Hunter has shown superb racing skills, while maintaining a level of discipline that very few drivers in his age group have.

When we were growing up, we dreamed of being professional athletes, astronauts, firemen, and yes, race car drivers. Hunter is living out his dream in grand fashion. There is a saying that people use to describe those with the guts to do things very few of us will do. A breed of risk takers and daredevils who live off of danger, the right stuff. Hunter falls into that same breed. Hunter has the right stuff.
