Hunter Richards and the Hunter Richards’ racing team got off to rough start to the Bandolero Division season. Hunter opened the season at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Summer Shootout. During his first race Hunter got into a wreck, damaging his vehicle. The car was fixed and Hunter went on to race in the Feature where Hunter’s car continued to take a pounding to the point where the front end came off. This took Hunter out of the race.
This week Hunter raced at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The temperatures at the race were recorded at 99 degrees making driving conditions extremely volatile for the drivers. Hunter and the rest of the drivers had a difficult time getting a grip on the track due to the high temperatures. Despite the heat Hunter was able to start the race strong passing four cars until he got side swiped sending him to the grass where he collided with the safety barrier.
Hunter thankfully was uninjured however the force of the impact bent the rear axle and tore off the right front tire as well as damaging the cars’ suspension. HNR racing will have their work cut out for them as they try to repair the vehicle in time for next weeks race at Concord Motorsports Park. Hunter certainly benefited from using The MitiGator considering it was put to the test the past few weeks. The cushioning provided by The MitiGator gave Hunter sufficient protection from the violent impacts of the last few races. You can watch Hunter and Bandolero races on Speed TV when the Winter Heat series kicks off this fall.
